'Wrecksome Flottlesam Statiom' Patrick Coyle Performance

Patrick Coyle puts forward the idea that, at roughly the time at which aliens visit our exhibition, water has become a prized, luxury item. He conducts tours of ‘Wrecksome Flottlesam Statiom’, the revered water-bottling site near Ty Pawb, host venue of the ‘Is This Planet Earth?’ exhibition.

In Wrexham, radioactivity has seeped into the underground water supplies (essential to the town's historic brewing industry). Yet, Patrick Coyle gives an upbeat account of the ways in which people have adapted, even though it’s clear that in the time since then, human speech and behaviour have undergone profound change, and the fundaments of nature, air and water, have become fraught and scarce.

The performance will commence at 8pm, attendees should meet in the Ty Pawb main entrance off Market Street. This is a free event and a significant element of the ‘Is This Planet Earth?’ exhibition at Ty Pawb. Patrick Coyle is an artist and writer working with performance and installation. He completed MFA Art Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London (2010) and BA Fine Art at Byam Shaw, University of the Arts London (2005).

He recently delivered performances at Haltemprice Leisure Centre, Hull; 53 Beck Road, London; Austrian Cultural Forum, London; Central Booking, New York; ICA, London; Global Committee, New York; El Tercer Lugar, Buenos Aires; Westminster Reference Library, London; Catalyst Arts, Belfast; Van Alen Institute, New York; Tate Modern, London; Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; Nottingham Contemporary, UK; ANDOR Gallery, London and Pump House Gallery, London. Ty Pawb is a cultural community resource, bringing together arts and markets within the same footprint. This coexistence celebrates the significance of markets within Wrexham’s cultural heritage and identity. Ty Pawb is a space for dialogue around subjects including social and civic issues, the environment, health, cultural identity, sustainability and education.

We present a contemporary programme of welcoming and inclusive exhibitions, socially engaged projects and live performance. The programme emphasises skills and craft, working with emerging and established artists from all backgrounds.
